About Duralex's Sustainability
Duralex glass products are tempered. The mechanical and thermal resisting properties are considerably increased compared to other ordinary glassware products.Glass is made to be remade; Duralex Products are 100% recyclable. The Duralex products are made of soda-lime glass created from sand, soda ash, and limestone, which is fully recyclable, unlike boron-based cooking or pharmaceutical glass. The raw materials are purchased close to the factory to reduce the carbon footprint. Duralex has also made a strong commitment to reducing the impact of the manufacturing processes by installing a state-of-the-art melting furnace to minimize energy consumption. They recycle glass and integrate it into their "house composition," allowing them to reduce the melting temperature and thus energy consumption. They have installed a particle filter designed to treat fumes coming out of the furnace, recovering certain raw materials and re-inject them back into the oven.
